3-Axis CNC Machining

3-axis milling is the fast, economical way to make prismatic parts. Plates, brackets, housings, covers and fixtures, cut to your drawing, inspected in-house, AS9100D certified.

Quote in 48h Prototypes 10–15 business days Production 15–30 business days No minimum order

Most machined parts do not need five axes. If your part is built from flat faces, pockets, bores and holes that a tool can reach from the top, 3-axis milling is faster to set up, faster to cut and cheaper per piece. Fenva runs a large 3-axis fleet, so we hold price down on prototypes and keep capacity open for volume. Send a drawing and you get a line-item quote in 48 hours, one piece or a production batch, with no minimum order.

Fit

When 3-axis is the right choice

Part type Why 3-axis fits What it saves you
Plates and basesAll features reach from one or two facesLower cost, quick turnaround
Brackets and mountsPrismatic geometry, simple workholdingCheaper than 5-axis for the same result
Housings and coversOpen pockets and bores, flat datumsHigh throughput on volume runs
Fixtures and toolingFunctional, in-house quick turnQuick setup, low piece price
Manifolds and blocksDrilled and tapped from accessible facesRepeatable across large lots

Tolerances

What we can hold

  • 3-axis milling with quick, repeatable setups, so volume runs stay cheap and on time.
  • General tolerance ISO 2768-m as standard; down to ±0.01 mm on the features that need it.
  • Surface finish to about Ra 1.6 off the machine, finer on request.
  • Deep pockets, tight bores and thin walls, with DFM feedback before machining begins.

Mini-FAQ

3-axis machining, answered

3-axis or 5-axis, which is cheaper?

3-axis, when the part allows it. If every feature reaches from the top in one or two setups, 3-axis is the lower-cost choice. We move you to 5-axis only when the geometry needs it.

Can you handle volume?

Yes. A large 3-axis fleet keeps capacity open for production runs at a steady piece price.

Tightest tolerance?

Down to ±0.01 mm on critical features, with general dimensions to ISO 2768-m.

Lead time?

Prototypes about 10 to 15 business days, production about 15 to 30, quote in 48 hours.
